Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of 9scroll (the “Service”), operated by 9scroll (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

9scroll provides encrypted, persistent memory for AI assistants. Data you store is encrypted: on the Managed tier it is sealed at rest (we hold the encryption key); on the Sovereign tier the key is generated on your device and never sent to us, so we cannot read your content.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information and are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials and connection tokens confidential. Your endpoint token grants access to your data — treat it like a password.

3. Pilot & confidentiality

The Service is currently offered as a limited pilot, may change or be withdrawn, and may be subject to a separate non-disclosure agreement. Free pilot access is provided at our discretion.

4. Your keys and data

On the Sovereign (zero-knowledge) tier, you alone hold the key. If you lose it, your data cannot be recovered by us or anyone else — this is by design. You are responsible for backing up your key. You retain ownership of your data; you grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the Service.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service unlawfully, to abuse or attempt to disrupt it, to circumvent security or usage limits, to access other tenants’ data, or to resell it without our written permission.

6. Availability

During the pilot the Service is provided on a best-effort basis without a guaranteed uptime commitment. We may perform maintenance and may modify or discontinue features.

7. Fees

Pilot access is free. Paid plans may be introduced later; we will give notice before charging.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. On termination we will delete or return your data on request, subject to legal retention requirements.

9. Disclaimers & liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months (which, during the free pilot, is zero).

10. Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
